Tiny House

Tiny House

Designed in 2014, Tiny House is a 300 s.f. studio home designed to be hyper-affordable starter that costs under TT$250K.

Banyan Pavilion

Banyan Pavilion

The Banyan Pavilion is an exploration in biomimicry and algorithmic design to develop a free standing structure based on the growth pattern of a banyan tree.

Sunny Side-House

Sunny Side-House

Designed for an international design competition in the town of Greensburg, KS, the Sunny Side-House design is a possible solution for an affordable, green home.

The Transitional Shelter

The Transitional Shelter

The "folded" plywood structure is based on an adaptable algorithm to develop a single-material prefabricated building.

Tangled Surface House

Tangled Surface House

A digital design research project which uses textile knitting to influence the behavior of a prototype domicile.

"Mariposa De Cristal" Structure

"Mariposa de Cristal" Structure

An algorithm based on crystallography and mathematics is used to the close packing of multiple instances of an object in space according to the symmetries of Bravais lattices.

intersecTable

intersecTable

An endtable that can be assembled without tools, by intersecting and interlocking panels milled from a single sheet of plywood.

The Architecture of Variation

The Architecture of Variation

Design Editor for book published by Thames and Hudson, London. Book showscases a collection of digital design/fabrication projects by graduate students at Georgia Tech.

  • Banyan Pavilion. Selected for Art on the Beltline 2012.
The structure stylizes the banyan tree with traditional construction materials to provide a shade spot along the new Atlanta Beltline Eastside Trail.
  • Culinary Street Market. YAF 48 Hrs 2011 Winner.
Deployed pod. Each pod is designed to be easily deployed by one person by unfolding the benches on each side of the pod to seat 15-20 people.
  • Tangled Surface House. Interior.
3D printed model from a catalog of homes influenced by knitting a strip of paper.
Modeled in Rhino 3D. ZCorp 3D printed components.
  • Mariposa de Cristal.
This parametric structure is derived by populating a crystal lattice rig with instances of a geometric configuration.
Scripted and modeled with Generative Components and Rhino 3D.

  • Single Family Residence.
    Bahamas Design Challenge 2009.
Modeled in Sketchup. Rendered with Kerkythea.
  • Virtual pleats.
Rendering of a parametric, reverse-fold pleat surface structure.
Scripted with Generative Components. Rendered with Maya 8.5
  • Knitted Paper.
As part of the initial research for the the Tangled Surface House a 1/2" strip of craft paper was knitted to investigate the result. The variation of the stitches, caused by the twisting of the paper, serves as the basis of design for the Tangled Surface House.
  • The Transitional Shelter.
Using an algorthim based on the reverse-fold pleat to generate the structure and informs the production the panels used to assemble the homes.
Scripted with Generative Components. Modeled using Rhino 3D.

  • The Architecture of Variation. Edited by Lars Spuybroek.
    Published by Thames and Hudson.

The first volume of the Research and Design series discusses Uniformity and Variability in architecture. Features the Tangled Surface House.

Book designed using Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
